Blackwood, SA
Description
This was by far the largest task we had undertaken to date. This beautiful circa 1900 Blackwood icon had been beautifully renovated on the inside and the new owners wanted a garden to reflect the modern garden transformation whilst not losing the heritage and connection with the facade.
The block was sloping which made the project difficult, along with unearthing over a century of artefacts and buried rubbish made this design full of surprises. Retaining walls were required to hold the large amount of soil excavated to create a large lawn and centre piece area at the front while each side garden needed to respect its aspect position, whilst create a more formal pattern to match the era of the house. Frost and plant selection was also carefully considered due to the Adelaide Hills climate. Lighting and irrigation capped off a beautiful and largely maintenance free front and side gardens.
